Akın Batmaz is an independent lawyer based in Bodrum, Turkey, with over 25 years of legal practice. Since 2005, his practice has focused particularly on providing legal services to international clients in Turkey, including property, inheritance and other cross-border legal matters.

Academic Background
Akın Batmaz is a graduate of Ankara University Faculty of Law. He later completed postgraduate legal studies there, focusing on Private International Law. His postgraduate thesis examined foreign individuals’ acquisition of real estate in Turkey, including acquisition by purchase and inheritance. He later earned a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Ege University. His academic work has focused particularly on Environmental Impact Assessment, international environmental agreements and related regulatory developments.

Publications & Research
His publications reflect the two principal areas of his professional and academic work: cross-border private law matters and environmental regulation. They include work on foreign ownership of real estate in Turkey, cross-border inheritance, Environmental Impact Assessment, international environmental agreements and climate regulation.
